  • Fabricated and reviewed sustainability initiatives and community energy plans, in accordance with the sustainable development goals

National Research Council Canada, Ottawa, ON

Arctic Renewable Energy Research Student

September 2022- December 2022

  • Modelled and analyzed the performance of a stand-alone 50 kW wind turbine and PV solar energy simulations for remote communities in the Arctic using TRNSYS/ TRNBuild, with data derived from Environment and Climate Change Canada

  • Programmed and configured Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems, enabling automated data collection of renewable energy systems

  • Assisted in creating a custom program to generate wind rose plots in MATLAB, predicting the wind trends in Arctic communities

  • Helped in dismantling and preparing instrumentation for deployment on the Arctic renewable energy system installation

METSCO Energy Solutions, Vancouver, BC

Junior Analyst

May 2022 - July 2022

  • Worked closely with the asset and risk management team, delivering Asset Management Plans and Enterprise Risk Management frameworks for 3 different power and natural gas utilities across Canada, complying with ISO 5500x standards

  • Evaluated and forecasted the Asset Health Index (AHI) for 100+ assets in North American hydropower and natural gas utilities

  • Performed detailed data analyses in Microsoft Excel, utilizing Power Query, Macros and other tools to conduct asset analyses

Technical Projects

Papercrete Project Lead in UBC Wastenauts, University of British Columbia

June 2021 – May 2022

  • Spearheaded and oversaw a team of 8 in developing green concrete that reduces carbon footprint and promotes paper waste recycling by utilizing used paper and cornstarch as the primary material for concrete production

  • Facilitated and guided team members in prototyping using SOLIDWORKS, creating papercrete moulds and a custom material for structural properties simulation testings including stress/strain simulation tests for different composition ratio

  • Monitored and conducted lab analyses, comparing the quality of papercrete block samples according to ASTM standards

  • Inspected an LCA analysis in OpenLCA to compare both conventional concrete and papercrete's global warming potential

British Columbia Water & Wastewater Association (BCWWA) Student Competition, BCWWA

January 2022 – April 2022

  • Attained 2nd place in the annual British Columbia Water & Waste Association Competition 2022, designing a functional comprehensive biosolids treatment plant and management strategy for the Regional District of Nanaimo

  • Proposed detailed economic and environmental analyses along with end-of-use strategies of the biosolids treatment plant

  • Analyzed and strategized the different processes in the biosolids treatment train (i.e. thickener, digester, conditioning, dewatering and drying) to help produce Class A biosolids

Hybrid Wind Power and Solar Energy Model, Undergraduate Research Opportunity

October 2021 – March 2022

  • Modelled the performance of intertwining a hybrid solar PV and wind turbine hybrid system using MATLAB/ Simulink

  • Presented research studies at the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC) for 100+ audiences

  • Spearheaded a team of three in conducting literature studies on the feasibility of using a hybrid energy harvesting system

Offshore & Onshore Wind Turbine Life Cycle Analysis, University of British Columbia

August 2021 – December 2021

  • Conducted a detailed life cycle analysis (LCA) from the supply chain emissions, which includes material extraction, production, transportation and installation of 50 MW capacity offshore and onshore wind turbines in European countries

  • Appraised CO2 emission produced from transporting materials and compartments of offshore and onshore wind turbines

  • Utilized SimaPro and Excel in data extraction and analysis to assess trends and meet regulations among European countries

Pump Station Design System, University of British Columbia

August 2021 – December 2021

  • Forecasted costs and energy required for 30 years of water demand through detailed economic and energy analysis by utilizing Microsoft Excel, saving up to $2 million and being one of the most cost-effective water system configurations

  • Drafted various pump and demand curves to project water supply and demand generated to achieve 99.99% water demand

  • Modelled the system configuration in EPANET to confirm the computed energy demand and system pressure requirements

  • Reduced energy consumption in order to generate the least environmental footprint, saving up to around 1000 kWh per year
